Fuck my childhood
Alright so you want to hear my story? Well buckle in, it might take awhile. I lived with my grandma for most of my formative years, until I was about 15, because my family couldn't take care of me and my three siblings. Now it wouldn't have been so bad living with her if she didn't live next to that godforsaken church. Whatwas supposed to be a place of worship became nightmare fuel for my young mind. On entering the church, there is a staircase directly to your right going down. Until I was about 13 I never went down there, because I was terrified of basements and the dark. At the front of the chapel was a huge painting of Jesus in front of a door, and underneath it said something like "He who stands at the door and knocks", or something like that. When I was a kid I didn't know that was a bible passage and it totally freaked me out. That was hardly the worst part about the painting though. You see, the door in the painting was an actual door, although it was so seamless you wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't know. I would never have found out about it either if I hadn'e gotten in trouble for being too loud in Sunday school. I was asked by the pastor to stay after all the kids went home, and I was kind of scared but I knew him well enough, So I went and told my grandma I'd be home for lunch, and I returned to the church to sit with the pastor. He sat me down on the stairs in front of that horrible painting, and he started to lecture me. Why I shouldn't interrupt, to speak only when spoken to, all that bullshit adults try to brainwash into their kids. After we were finished he told me to go up to the painting. I was already pretty nervous, but I got up and walked towards it. He knocked on the wall beside the painting and it started swinging outwards towards me. However, only the door in the painting moved, the frame and the rest of the painting remained against the wall. From inside I could hear what sounded like awful moaning, but I told myself it was just the wind. The pastor told me "Son, if you don't start behaving yourself now, you'll end up in there with the rest of the damned." To this day I still don't really know what was behind the painting. Has anyone else ever seen a painting like that, I'm really curious if the church was actually hiding some sinister secret, or if that was a pretty regular thing to have. Its called Speedside United Church, outside of Guelph, Ontario, if anyone is interested.
